A Big Flood
(A Folktale about the origins of the Ami tribe in Taiwan)

One day evil Gods came over to live in a near by area. When the evil Gods saw how well Kakumodan Sapatorok and his wife lived they became full of envy and said "Kakumodan Sapatorok, give us a black kite, or a butcher bird, or a deer, or a pig."
But Kakumodan Sapatorok answered them by saying,
"These things are my treasures. When I go hunting or fishing, these birds show me where the game is. And we depend on the deer and pigs to eat. There is none to spare. If you want them, you'll have to breed them yourself."
