Why no bats have feathers

The next day the birds got together and went to visit the Sky God. "Oh, Sky God, please listen to us. The bat has been teasing us terribly. And that is not all. Since we gave him our feathers we are freezing." said the birds. The Sky God had decided to punish the bat who actually had been teasing the birds. So the he ordered that the bat’s feathers fall off right then and there.
